Cedar Park Police Exam Process Questioned
An outside agency is reviewing the Cedar Park Police Department's promotions exam process.
The city received three appeals based on last month's detective and sergeant exam. It involves 18 police officers, corporals and detectives, trying for promotions.
The review comes after it was revealed the officers received the actual test questions before the test was given.
"It is our understanding that the sample questions provided by the testing company were the actual exam questions, the questions on the test," says Jennie Huerta, a spokesperson for the City of Cedar Park.
"Them seeing the test or what we thought was a study guide was an accident, it was my mistake, I did it and I would hate to see people punished for my mistake, I had no idea it was the same thing," says Sgt. Cathy Bustos with the Cedar Park Police Professional Standards Department.
The officers only received the questions, not the answers to the test. No one will be promoted until the outside review is completed.
