Elgin Man Dies In Car Crash On Highway 95


A wreck on State Highway 95 has left one person dead.

The Department of Public Safety responded to the call just after 7 a.m. Thursday. Officials say the accident happened just north of Elgin near Roemer Road.

According to troopers at the scene, two 18 wheelers and a car was involved. One 18 wheeler was driving in the northbound lane of Highway 95 and the other 18 wheeler was driving southbound. A car behind the 18 wheeler driving southbound passed the truck on the shoulder. Witnesses at the scene say when the driver of the car attempted to pull back on to the highway the driver lost control and hit the 18 wheeler traveling northbound head-on.

The victim was identified by the Department of Public Safety as 22-year-old Gregory Robinson of  Elgin.
