Winter Storm Could Make A Mess Of San Marcos Roads

San Marcos officials say they're prepared as wintery weather from the west moves into Central Texas.

One of the big concerns is the driving conditions with iced over roads.

"We're not expecting anything too bad but we're ready for the worst," says Jesse Shroyer, City of San Marcos Transportation, Streets and Drainage Manager. He says his crews started getting ready Wednesday, "We have plenty of sand on hand, we have everything that we need, we have a stand by crew ready to go for tonight, all hands on deck, we're ready for whatever happens."

That includes iced over bridges and roads. "All the areas that are in the air, like bridges, the cold air gets underneath and it's easier for them to freeze and that's when we apply sand to our bridges and steep incline streets," Shroyer says.

If it does snow, meteorologists say it's not expected to stick.
