Driver Killed In East Austin Crash Identified
The driver killed in a car crash in East Austin on Monday has been identified by police.
Investigators say that at around 6 p.m. on Monday, 20-year-old Fernando Cuba was driving southbound on the Hwy 183 service road when he ran the red light at the Hwy 290 westbound service road and was struck in the driver’s side door by another vehicle.
Cuba was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at 512-974-5594.
This was Austin’s 80th traffic fatality of 2012.
