East Riverside To Get Antone's After SXSW
The legendary blues club Antone's is leaving Downtown Austin after SXSW in March for a new location on East Riverside Drive.
Frank Hendrix, a spokesperson for Antone's, confirmed the music venue is leaving its West Fifth Street location for the Beauty Ballroom at 2015 East Riverside Dr., about a half mile east of I-35.
Hendrix also said Antone's is in negotiations for a second club at a Downtown Austin hotel for a lounge-type venue.
Previously, Susan Antone, the sister of founder Clifford Antone, cited parking issues and increasing residential developments downtown for the move.
Antone's opened its doors in 1976. This will be the fifth time it has relocated.
