East Austin Motorcycle Crash Leaves 2 Dead


Police say two people are dead after a motorcycle crash Tuesday evening in East Austin -- one of the victims is a 13-year-old boy.

It happened at around 5:20 p.m. in the 1100 block of Berger Street, a residential neighborhood between Airport Boulevard and 12th Street on the east side of Springdale Road.

Austin-Travis County EMS says the adult male was declared dead at the scene. The 13-year-old was transported to Dell Children's Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Austin police say the motorcycle crashed into a parked car. Neither victim was wearing a helmet.

This is Austin's 1st and 2nd traffic fatalities of 2013.
