Sheriff's Office: Sister-In-Law Shoots Pregnant Austin Woman


A pregnant Austin woman is in critical condition after police say her sister-in-law shot her.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened Thursday night on Broadmead Road, near SH 45 and Lake Creek Parkway.  

Investigators say a sister and brother, Cynthia and Orlando Salazar, got into a fight. Cynthia grabbed a handgun and shot Orlando in the back grazing him, investigators say. 

Orlando’s wife, 21-year-old Andrea Salazar, tried to intervene. According to the Sheriff's Office, Cynthia shot Andrea once in the stomach.

For some reason, Orlando and Andrea Salazar drove to a hotel near Hwy 183 and Pond Springs Road. At that point, both went to the hospital.  

Andrea Salazar is in critical condition at a Round Rock hospital.

Williamson County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested Cynthia Salazar. She is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. They say Salazar could face additional charges depending on the victim's condition due to her injury and being pregnant.
