TxDOT Ban On Gun Show Messages Is Short-Lived
The Texas Department of Transportation has overruled a district office and restored use of electronic freeway signs for traffic advisories related to local gun shows.
TxDOT in Houston on Thursday suspended the gun show traffic advisories after complaints that the message was inappropriate so soon after the mass shooting of school children in Newtown, CT.
Just hours after news of the ban hit the web, TxDOT officials at the state level said the local decision was wrong. TxDOT spokeswoman Veronica Beyer says message boards are used to help direct traffic at large events for public safety.
