Fire In East Travis County Destroys Car

A fire in a backyard automotive shop destroys one car in East Travis County.

The Travis County Fire Department responded to a fire in a automotive garage at 20118 Lockwood Drive in East Travis County Sunday afternoon.

Captain Von Beal, PIO Travis County Fire ESD 12, says occupants were working on a car when they noticed a fire. The occupants evacuated and shut the garage door to keep the fire from spreading.

Captain Beal said when fire crews arrived, they had to deal with a large number of gas tanks and welding equipment. The fire destroyed a car along with equipment in the garage.

The fire damage is estimated at $10,000 for structure and $15,000 for contents.

The fire was ruled accidental and no one was injured.
