Chained Pit Bull Kills 4-Year-Old Near Houston


A four-year-old boy died north of Houston after he climbed into a yard with a pit bull.

Christian Gormanous was playing in his backyard with his nine-year-old sister Saturday afternoon.

A chained pit bull was next door.

"Christian climbed over the fence and the dog attacked him," family friend Misty Price said.  "Trinity was able to get the dog off of him, brought her little brother back over the fence and went in and got her mother and told her the dog had attacked Christian." 

He died at a hospital later in the day.

And now, his family is in mourning.

"They're holding up as best as possible.  The mother, of course, and father are very distraught.  But we're holding on.  We trust in the Lord and we will see it through," Price said.

The head of the property owners association here says this neighborhood has an ongoing problem with pit bulls.

"That the dog was that violent, to show that action, then I have this feeling we're going to have to do something.  I just think they're going to have to outlaw these dogs.  You know, they're aggressive," Karen Loube said.

No one was home when a reporter checked at the house of the dog owner. A notice from an animal control officer was on the door.
