Pflugerville Resident Taking Action Against his Water Company
Pflugerville residents say they are fed up and taking action. They are customers of the Windermere Water Company and are asking the City of Pflugerville to take over their service by any means possible.
Brad Henderson is a successful entertainer, a magician who owns his own production company. His latest endeavor is getting the Windermere Water Company to disappear from Pflugerville. He says he is "sick and tired" of paying higher water rates than his neighbors who are customers of the Pflugerville Water Company.
"The water rates that we in the Windermere district are paying are much higher than just a mile down in the City of Pflugerville, the quality of water is inconsistent and the customer service is atrocious," says Henderson.
Based on 9,000 gallons of both water and waste water a Windemere customer in Pflugerville pays $149.26 compared to a City of Pflugerville water customer who pays $92.39. While city officials would not comment on camera, in a statement a city spokesperson said: "Since the city is still in current negotiations with Windermere with an April 10 negotiation deadline, the city will not comment on his Citizen Communications statement."
Under the city charter, if 20 percent of registered voters in the previous election sign an authorized petition, the council must respond. The Windermere Water Company did not want to comment on the issue but said they are having a meeting with Brad Henderson. They would not go into specifics on what the meeting would be about.
Henderson says this is an issue that not only effects Pflugerville but anyone fighting for change in their community. "This is an issue of what's right and an issue of standing up for our communities," he says.
