Man Arrested In 2009 Elderly Theft Case; Austin Police Seeking Other Victims

Austin police say they've arrested a man they say stole thousands of dollars from an elderly man in 2009, but now they're asking for the public's help to find other potential victims.

Enrique Mojica, 57, was arrested on Friday for theft from elderly, a third degree felony.

Investigators say he was hired in April of 2009 by an 84-year-old man to paint his house. The man gave Mojica $1,800 in the form of checks for materials, but Mojica never completed the work and disappeared with the money.

Police say detectives came across Mojica as a suspect in a new investigation where the elderly victim was able to provide a license plate number.  He was using the alias Joe Marin.

Detectives believe that there may be other elderly victims. If you are a victim, or know someone who was a victim, you are asked to call 3-1-1 or 512-974-5750.

More charges are pending against Mojica, according to police.
