FedEx Sues Texas Workforce Commission Over Pay Issue
(CNN) FedEx Ground Package System is suing the Texas Workforce Commission for ordering the company to pay unemployment taxes for its drivers.
But the company classifies them as "independent contractors." The ruling could cost up to $1 million.
The lawsuit, filed Dec. 21, is attracting a lot of attention from other companies including AT&T, TimeWarner Cable and energy retailers that use independent contractors.
No hearings in the case have been set.
