Hays County Emergency Responders Need Your Gate Codes
In a life-threatening emergency, seconds count.
The Hays County Sheriff Department is urging all residents who live in a gated community to register their access code with the department to ensure first responders can get to those who need their help in time.
New homes and businesses that don't register their access codes could be wasting seconds, precious time to first responders who are trying to keep residents safe. A Knox Box is an option for homes or businesses that require a key, instead of a code, for entry. For a couple hundred dollars, this tool can hold gate and house keys only first responders have access to.
To prevent firefighters or EMS from getting stuck outside a gate at your home or business contact the Hays County Sherrif's Emergency Communications Division at 512-393-7896 with your most recent gate code information.
