Big Rig Driver Caught After Hit And Run Crash On I-35
An 18-wheeler hit a car on the I-35 access road in Central Austin this morning then left the scene.
It happened at about 3 a.m. between the Hwy 290 interchange and 51st Street.
Police say an 18-wheeler struck a car going northbound on I-35. The truck spun around pointing the other direction then took off.
"He should have been smarter. It's crazy. You shouldn't run. If you have an accident, just stop. They are going to catch you. Now he's going to jail," witness Charles Moody said.
Police tell us they arrested the truck driver in Round Rock shortly after for failing to stop and render aid.
The driver of the car was hurt but authorities on the scene told KEYE TV the injuries were not life-threatening.
