Pflugerville Parents Want Answers In Attempted Child Abduction Case

Parents, children and teachers in Pflugerville are on high alert with warning signs posted near the Falcon Pointe subdivision, where police say a man tried to kidnap two young girls.

But this isn't the first time an incident involving children has occurred in the Pflugerville-area. There have been three -- two within city limits and one in the county. All of them with a suspect fitting the same description, and each time his actions more bold.

He's described him as a white male, 5'7" to 5'9", slender build, blue eyes, with a possible goatee. He was last seen in a grey hoodie and sweatpants and dark shoes.

"It's common in all pedophile cases that they will accelerate and get more aggressive or they will just get more confident in their abilities and their ability to get away with a crime," says Lt. Laura Wilkes with the Pflugerville Police Department.

Police released information regarding the previous incidents on Wednesday. They date back to December 18. In that incident a man fitting the same description tried to grab a girls arm, but Pflugerville police say that incident was in the county and was being investigated by the Travis County Sheriff's Department.

February 1 is the first incident within city limits. In that case a man cursed at two girls and drove away.

So why not release the other instances? "One of them was merely a suspicious activity report, that was a subject cursing at little girls down the street, that quite honestly, happens very frequently,” says Lt. Wilkes.

Regardless if it happens frequently or whether it is within city limits or not, parents say there want to know about it.

"I was a little disturbed to find out that it had been going on for a few months and we just heard about it," says Sheryl Schaefer, a Pflugerville resident and mother.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area with both uniformed and non-uniformed officers.
