Woman Charged For Stabbing/Killing Roommate In North Austin

Police have charged a woman with murder for the stabbing death of her roommate in North Austin.

Kennet Haywood (pictured), 21, is charged with the first degree murder of 18-year-old Tyesha Taylor.

It happened last Friday afternoon in the 1100 block of Rutland Drive, just north of Rundberg Lane and west of Lamar Boulevard, at the Runnymede Apartments.

Investigators say patrol officers responded to a stabbing call at the apartment and found Taylor injured. She was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

This week, the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the cause of death a homicide after performing an autopsy.

Haywood has been arrested and is currently in custody in the Travis County Jail. Her bond has been set at $1,000,000.

This is Austin's 2nd murder of 2013.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588 or CrimeStoppers at 512-472-TIPS or text "Tip 103" your message to CRIMES. You may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip leads to an arrest or charges being filed.
