McNeil HS Briefly Placed On Lockdown


McNeil High School in North Austin was briefly placed on lockdown after a suspicious vehicle was seen in the area.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office says the initial call came in at around 2:35 p.m. The caller said they saw two juveniles driving in a white van by the school, located at 5720 McNeil Drive, with the passenger holding a gun out the window.

The school was placed on lockdown and officials searched the area -- two vans in the area matching the description were found, but they were both cold to the touch, according to investigators.

A check of school surveillance video did show a van that matched the caller's description, but again, officials could not find it in the area.

The lockdown was lifted by 3:30 p.m.
