Woman Sexually Assaulted In South Austin Neighborhood, Police Say


Police say a woman was sexually assaulted in a South Austin neighborhood early Friday morning, and the suspect is still on the loose.

It happened at the intersection of Blarwod Drive and Cockburn Drive, just north of William Cannon Drive and west of Manchaca Road.

Investigators say the victim, who does not live in the area, stopped near the intersection when the suspect walked up to her and started a conversation. The suspect then sexually assaulted her, and fled northbound on Blarwood Drive on foot.

Police were called to the scene, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as:
  • Hispanic man with dark complexion or Black man with light complexion
  • Estimated to be in his 20s
  • 5'6" to 5'8" – about 180 to 190 pounds – Average build
  • Black, closely cut hair covered by a hood or cap

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a dark blue thermal shirt.
