Surgery Delayed For Abused Hutto Dog

A man, who says he is the owner of a dog found in Hutto without a nose, has come forward.

We told you about the situation with Victory last month. Hutto police found her alone in the rain with her nose missing.  She is now with Austin Pets Alive.

Tuesday a man contacted authorities saying he was Victory's owner.  He had a picture of her as a puppy that Austin Pets Alive says looks exactly like her before she was shaved.  He wanted the dog back.

The man said the dog had escaped his yard around Jan. 1 and that she had a disease that caused her nose to fall off.   Austin Pets Alive says it received the records from his veterinarian saying she had a condition on her nose two years ago.  But none of the notes mentioned her nose being removed, falling off or her being seen since then.

Austin Pets Alive is working with board certified dermatologists to determine if she still has an illness. Animal cruelty officers continue in investigate what happened to her that left the clean cuts.

Hutto police are trying to find out if the man is in fact the dog's owner. Cosmetic surgery, scheduled for Wednesday, is on hold until ownership question is cleared up.
