Austin Bag Ban Starts Friday
Austin's long awaited bag ban officially goes into effect tomorrow.
The City of Austin has spent $850,000 on education this year to make sure everyone is aware of the change. Likewise, individual stores, like H-E-B, also pushed their own educational campaign.
The ban means disposable plastic bags are banned at all retailers in the city. Exceptions include thicker bags with handles, laundry, newspapers, dry cleaners and waste bags.
