Expect Road Closures For Austin Marathon
Austin drivers should expect some road closures this Sunday as marathon runners take over the road.
Almost 20,000 runners could be pounding the pavement for the 22nd annual LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon and Half Marathon.
The 26.2 or 13.1 mile run passes through some of Austin's most scenic and historic neighborhoods and features live musical acts along the way.
It starts this Sunday at 7 a.m. at the intersection of Congress Avenue and 16th Street and ends at 3 p.m. at the Congress Avenue and 10th Street intersection.
Road closures on will begin on Friday evening near the finish and start lines. Most race day road closures will begin at 6 a.m. Roads will reopen on a rolling schedule following the last runner.
