Austin Attorney Analyzes Nestande's Verdict

The jury could have convicted Gabrielle Nestande for intoxication manslaughter or manslaughter, but decided to find her guilty of a lesser offense called, criminally negligent homicide.

Nestande was found guilty Thursday of criminally negligent homicide for the 2011 West Austin hit and run death of Courtney Griffin -- but the jury found her not guilty of failure to stop and render aid.

Nestande struck and killed Courtney Griffin with her car in West Austin back in May 2011 after leaving a Rainey Street bar. Griffin was found dead in the driveway of a home.

Austin-area attorney Adam Loewy joined us in the newsroom to give us an analysis of the trial.
