Austin Gas Prices Down

Gas prices in Austin actually went down last week.

AAA Texas says the average gallon of gas costs $3.60 – down 1 cent.  This came after weeks of double digit increases.

Statewide gas also jumped 1 penny to $3.63. That is 15 cents less that the national average of $3.78.

Drivers in Dallas are paying the most on average at $3.68 and drivers in El Paso are paying the least at $3.48.

The recent increase in prices has been mostly a result of refinery issues.  This year’s refinery maintenance schedule and switch-over to summer-blend gasoline production appears to be more dramatic than recent years and is taking place earlier than last year.
