KLBJ-AM Reporter Dies From Injuries In West Austin Car Crash
A KLBJ-AM News reporter died Wednesday after succumbing to injuries she suffered in a West Austin car crash.
The rollover wreck happened Tuesday at approximately 11:30 p.m. on FM 2222 near Mesa Drive.
According to Austin police, a green 1995 Saab was traveling westbound on FM 2222 and began to swerve into the eastbound lanes after changing lanes. The vehicle then struck a KLBJ-AM News Radio vehicle. A third vehicle, a white 2012 Toyota SUV, was also traveling eastbound and struck the news vehicle.
Police say slick roads may have been a factor in the crash.
The driver of the news vehicle, identified as reporter Barbara McCarley, was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge Hospital with life threatening injuries. She died from her injuries on Wednesday.
The drivers of the Saab and the 2012 Toyota were transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries.
According to her LinkedIn page, McCarley had been a broadcast reporter since 1998. She was 48.

This is Austin's 11th fatal traffic crash and the 12th traffic fatality of 2013. At this time in 2012, there were 9 traffic fatalities.
