The woman involved in a car crash that left her four-year-old daughter dead has been charged with first degree murder.
Shea Lynn Goss, 31, of Pflugerville was originally charged with intoxication manslaughter, a second degree felony and two counts of intoxication assault, both third degree felonies.
The crash happened Tuesday, Feb. 19 at around 3 p.m. in the 12500 block of Riata Vista Circle, south of Parmer Lane and east of McNeil Drive.
Police say the 2004 Dodge Durango carrying three children and one adult went off the road and crashed into a cluster of oak trees.
Goss' two other children, a four-year-old twin sister and a five-year-old brother, were also transported to Dell Children’s Medical Center and are expected to recover.
The dead child has been identified as Averee Goss, 4.
According to the intoxication manslaughter arrest affidavit, Goss "could not remember driving or that her own kids had been with her in the vehicle. Goss had a very hard time staying awake ... Goss' eyes were bloodshot and glassy ... Goss told the officer that she sees a doctor regularly for chronic pain in her head and back."
The first degree murder affidavit, the investigators said that in the course of committing a felony, which was driving while intoxicated with child passengers, she committed acts clearly dangerous to human life, and caused the death of her daughter.
She was also charged with two additional counts of second degree aggravated assault for her two surviving children.
If anyone has information about this incident they should call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 947-5312.
