Ted Cruz Part Of 4-Senator Tag Team Delaying Vote On CIA Nominee

A freshman senator from Texas is part of a small group of U.S. Senate members holding up a confirmation vote on the nominee for intelligence director.

Republican Ted Cruz is one of three senators that joined the extended remarks being made by Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky. Paul and the others are questioning at length the legality of the Obama administration policy on potential drone strikes on U.S. soil.

Senate Democrats had hoped for a speedy vote Wednesday to confirm John Brennan as CIA director.

But Paul began his extended remarks about noon. After three hours, he was joined by Republicans Cruz, Mike Lee of Utah, Marco Rubio of Florida and Jerry Moran of Kansas. Also participating is Democrat Ron Wyden of Oregon.
