Austin Police Cruiser Involved In Hit & Run
Austin Police take a suspect into custody after a hit and run late Tuesday night.
The incident happened before just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. An Austin Police officer was performing a traffic stop on McKinney Falls Parkway near East William Cannon Drive. Officials say the officer was out of his police cruiser talking to the driver of another vehicle when a van slammed into the back of the APD cruiser.
Officials say the driver of the van drove off and headed east on McKinney Falls Parkway. According to police, the driver eventually abandon the van and took off on foot. K-9 officers and air units assisted in the search for the suspect. Police first found the van and eventually found the driver hiding in woods nearby.
The Austin Police Officer was not injured in the crash.
