Man Shot By Bastrop Co. Sheriff's Officers Dead
The man shot by a Bastrop County Sheriff's officers last week has died.
Jose Cantu, 70, died Friday.
On March 13, two officers -- Deputy Mark Garcia (pictured left) and investigator Stephen Broderick (pictured right) -- went to a home on Stony Mont Drive off County Road 110 in the Del Valle area on a disturbance call.
When they arrived, they saw Cantu in front of the home with a gun. Authorities say Cantu pointed the gun at the officers and they opened fire.
The Garcia and Broderick were not injured. They are on administrative leave which is normal after a shooting. The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
