Pet Food Recall Issued Over Salmonella Fears
A pet food company has issued a voluntary recall of some of their products because of the potential for salmonella contamination.
Natura Pet Products issued the voluntary recall on Monday after a single sample tested positive for Salmonella in a bag made in the Dec. 17 - Jan. 2 production window. They say no salmonella-related illnesses have been reported.
The specific Natura Pet Products brands being recalled are California Natural, Innova, EVO, and Healthwise dry dog, cat, and ferret formulas
A spokesperson for the company says there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
The affected products are sold in bags through veterinary clinics, select pet specialty retailers, and online in the United States, Canada, Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Costa Rica.
