Car Crashes Into Southwest Austin Home
Austin fire officials remain on scene early Tuesday morning, shoring up the exterior of a Southwest Austin home after a car plowed into a corner office. The couple living inside the home at the corner of Escarpment and Salcon Cliff tell me they and their 8-year-old daughter were sleeping when they were awoken around 5 a.m. by a loud crash. No one inside the home was hurt, including the family dog.
Fire officials say the 18-year-old driver was able to free himself from the car and appeared in stable condition. He was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. They believe he lost control of the car when he fell asleep behind the wheel.
No charges are expected to be filed.
